The multi-tool company just announced its new line of knives geared for camping, cooking, and EDC.
The drop includes three fixed blades and two single-bladed folders, and they all seem to be geared for distinct purposes for outdoors or daily carry.
All the knives are made in the Leatherman factory in Oregon and have Magnacut blades at around 60 – 63 HRc. They’re also available right now from Leatherman’s website and most of your favorite online vendors.
The Fixed Blades
In the fixed category are the Rustle, the Trac, and the Pioneer, all with G10 scales that come in various colors. Here are the quick rundowns:
The Trac is a hunting and “outdoor utility” knife with a 4-inch blade and a hollow grind. It comes with a leather sheath that can be worn horizontally or vertically. The G10 scales come in Alpine (white), Jet Black, or Earth Brown.
The Rustle is a santoku-based design with a 4-inch blade and comes in a taco-style Kydex sheath (but not any kind of belt attachment). This is explicitly meant to be their outdoor cooking knife. Handle scales can come in Alpine, Vapor Grey, and Evergreen colors.
The Pioneer is the survival knife and the largest of the bunch with 5-inch blade. They list it as having a Japanese tanto blade shape a flat grind (the tanto shape is subtle though, and the flat grind is so low it’s almost a scandi). The sheath is a hybrid design featuring a Kydex sheath with a leather backing for hanging on the belt. The handle scales can come in Alpine or Orange Pop.
The Folding Knives
Both folders come with a lot of features so we’re break them down in a bullet list:
- A patent-pending lock called the Compression Lock Wedge which appears to be a combination of a button lock and a compression lock;
- Cerakote-finished 416 stainless steel handle scales
- Reversible pocket clips;
- A lanyard featuring a bead that doubles as a bit driver that fits Leatherman bits;
- A double sided torx driver (which also fits in the lanyard bead) with a #6 on one side and a #8 on the other.
The Blazer features a 3.15-inch drop point hollow-ground blade and a thumbstud opener. It with a plain stainless steel handle, or with either a Denim or Alpine Cerakote finish.
The Glider has a 3-inch sheepsfoot hollow-ground blade and has the option for an Alpine, Jet Black, or Okra (green) Cerakote finishes on the steel handle scales.
