This Diminutive Fixed Blade EDC is Easy on the Wallet and Light on the Belt

Kizer has been on a fixed blade designing binge that is hard for slow moving knife bloggers to keep up with. The Beaver makes a good case for itself as the best of the bunch from a dollar vs performance standpoint. This stubby fixed blade may actually be in the running for the best $50 fixed blade EDC knife I have tested this year.

Kizer says this is an in-house design, but I sure would like to know the name of the person responsible for the Beaver, so I could by them a beer at Blade Show. All right; that’s enough writing. It’s photo time.

The Kizer Beaver is one of the best fixed blade EDC knives I have tested in the $50 price range.

Horizontal carry is my favorite way to carry the Beaver, but the sheath can be configured for vertical carry, as well. It is an ambidextrous sheath, so it can be carried on either side of the hip in the front or back.

The Beaver rides a high on the hip for ideal comfort in my opinion, but I prefer to carry knives this size horizontally or in the pocket.

Woodcraft is where the Beaver really shines. It is a great fixed blade to have along on any excursion that may require some carving or whittling.

The Beaver has tall blade with a gradual taper which makes it better for food prep than most other knives its size.

The Beaver’s handle is short but shaped in a way that offers good grip security without locking your hand into place in a way that is uncomfortable for certain tasks.

I hesitate to proclaim that the Beaver is the best fixed blade EDC at its current $50 price point, but I struggle to argue against that undeclared proclamation. I suppose the only way to be sure is to buy and test more budget friendly EDC fixed blades.
