Euro Blade Worx was started to get Spartan and Ka-Bar designs into European hands more efficiently.
Officially, this was started by Pineland Cutlery Inc., the collaboration company formed by Spartan Blades and Ka-Bar in order to expand their designs into more economically approachable avenues. They’ve now partnered with knife maker Ondřej Němec (the founder and primary knife designer of Acta Non Verba) who will be overseeing manufacturing.
Němec has collaborated with both Spartan Blades (the Spartan-Nemec folder) and Ka-Bar (the EK 201 Folder). Those designs seem to have been enough for the three parties to realize they have similar standards and philosophies when it comes to making knives (which makes sense. All of them have been making knives used and tested by active military for a while now).
Blade Worx Should Make It Easier for Europeans to Pick-up Ka-Bar and Spartan Blades Knives.
The main reason they’ve given for starting the company sounds mostly logistical. From their press release: “By manufacturing directly in the EU, EBX eliminates the need for overseas freight, reduces customs and import complexity, and cuts delivery times from weeks to days. Dealers and end-users alike benefit from improved pricing and faster access to top-tier blades.”
In the short term, this seems to mean that both Ka-Bar and Spartan brand knives are now more readily available to European customers. Designs from both companies will be made in South Moravia in the Czech Republic.
EBX and Pineland Cutlery have so far been coy about long term plans. It seems likely that EBX will eventually launch designs on its own considering Němec’s background. For now, though, it is primarily a more efficient, cost effective way for European customers and dealers to get their hands on two of the most respected and prolific knife brands to come out of the US.
